Sugar Sweet ReviewI first was exposed to Grandpa Elliot through the Playing for Change DVD/CD. I searched all over the Internet and could not find any recordings of his music other than some user-generated videos of him playing on the streets of New Orleans. When I saw that he now has a CD out I was extremely excited to hear it.
Sugar Sweet is a bit on the short side, clocking in with nine songs. I was a bit disappointed that more songs were not included, particularly "Amazing Grace," a song in which I have heard him do incredible renditions. That being said, what is included on the CD is very good. The album has a soul/blues feel to it, with Grandpa doing plenty of solos on the harmonica during songs. My favorite track is the gospel song "This Little Light of Mine." Grandpa's voice is perfect for this song.
I hope that we see more CDs from Grandpa Elliott in the future. He is a true American treasure.
