Save The Dancer ReviewI have this album but have been looking for it on cd for a long, long time. Rumors are the cd will be released 02/2010 but I'll believe it when I see it. I don't know why I'm so enamoured with this album but I fell in love with it the moment I put the album on my record player (yes, I am from THOSE days). Most people have heard him on the radio through his duet with Kim Carnes on "You're A Part Of Me," but he also jumped on the pop chart with an even bigger hit on his own, "Before My Heart Finds Out." which is the reason I bought the album in the first place. There are a few albums that I can listen to in its entirety without skipping a few cuts and this is one of them. There's something about his voice that makes you feel comfortable as if he's just an old friend coming over to sing. His voice isn't spectacular or even memorable...but you can feel his vulnerability and understand his stance. He's like a storyteller who mesmorizes you with his vocal technique. He takes a standard like "Shine On" and allows the song to live up to its title - with the Andrea Crouch Choir backing him! "Like A Sunday in Salem (The Amos and Andy Song)," "As Long As There's Laughter" and the title "Save the Dancer" are among the gems that can be found. The cuts on the album are:Before My Heart Finds Out
You're a Part of Me (duet with Kim Carnes)
Like a Sunday in Salem
Going Through the Motions of Love
Save the Dancer
Only the Lucky
She's Sweet, She's Somebody
Shine On
You Were Right
As Long As There's Laughter
If you have to catagorize his music, his vocals kinda reminds me of T.G. Sheppard, Kenny Rogers and Eddie Rabbit. He one of the few country/folk singers who can project a rare kind of blue-eyed soul on the public and get away with it. Give it a listen and tell me if I'm not telling you the truth.Save The Dancer Overview
