Longest Line ReviewThe Longest Line introduced the versatile guitar, trumpet, vocal, and lyrical talents of El Hefe - the manic Hispanic. El Hefe replaced Dave Cassilas on lead guitar to round out the NOFX line up (in more ways than one).El Hefe debuts on this album with the song "Kill All the White Man." It's a very simple and straight forward song about the Mexican minorities! It's pretty hilarious. More serious tracks are on this CD however, such as Remnants and Death of John Smith.
This is definitely one of NOFX's better albums with the only problem being that it's too short. The reason it is so short is that they were in the middle of making White Trash, Two Heebs and a Bean and had just finished Ribbed... they also made it to introduce the talents of El Hefe... they were really stoked to have him join the band.
The sound of this album ranges from the fast and furious sound of Remnants to the slower parts of The Death of John Smith and Kill All the White Man. Additional background vocals on this album come from Joey Cape of Lagwagon (which song, I'm not sure)... definitely worth checking out.
Here's what NOFX has to say on this album:
On Life - "Life's too short to just barely exist" - Remnants
On Love - "Don't be fooled by teardrops, they're worth 1,000 lies" - Stranded
Overall, this is a great disc. And... it's cheaper than the other ones too! Go pick it up and play it over and over again! 100% NOFX at it's best!
